Okay to use speaker (Zire71) for MP3 playback?

Is it okay to use the built-in speaker (on a Zire 71) to listen to
music on a regular basis? I know it sounds pretty awful, but sometimes
my wife doesn't have her headphones with her and just listens to it
through the speaker. Will running it on max volume for hours wear the
speaker out?
