This is to remind you that Stanford International Dancers will be hosting an evening of live music by the Slavonian Traveling Band this Friday, February 7, from 8 'til 11. Admission will be $6. Founded in 1986, the Slavonian Traveling Band performs throughout the San Francisco Bay Area as a tamburitza orchestra typical of the Balkan region. The Band also plays instruments found on the Dalmatian coast of Croatia, including the mandolin, mandola, and guitar. As the Band's repertoire features Macedonian and Romany (gypsy) music, they often include the sax, harmonica, and dumbek (drum). Dance with us at Flex-It aerobics studio, 425 W. Evelyn Avenue, Mountain View. The studio is located 3-1/2 blocks east of Castro Street, immediately past Minton's Hardware and Lumber, and is air-conditioned. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- See our quarterly schedule and more at: http://home.earthlink.net/~gino37/Stanford/Folkdance.html or in text format at http://home.earthlink.net/~gino37/Stanford/Stanford.txt -- Gene Bloch Handle: gino37; ISP: earthlink; Domain: net --
