getting live music online

A quick question.
As a novice when it comes to downloading music, how would I best go about
getting some live shows downloaded by the DMB and Ryan Adams. In the old
days I would swap tapes with people from overseas but with today's
technology is it simply a matter of going to Kazaa and downlading the DMB
material after you do a search and then copying it over to a disk.
