Problem: Music CD's play too fast with Mediaplayer

I don't know why it is suddenly happening, but when I put a music CD
into my computer, Windows "media player" plays it in excessively fast
speed. Bon Jovi sounds like Donald Duck! I have all the latest
updates, one of which I think probably messed things up. Any idea how
I can get "normal speed" back? It happens if I use either the
DVD/CDROM drive or the CDRW/CDROM drive. Windows 98's "CD Player"
doesn't have the problem.
