As you walked through different areas the music changed. You were tethered to a pair of headphones that knew where you were. I spent hours exploring that one exhibit. > I have designed an exhibition space that consists of a 14-meter diameter > installation into which the public can enter > and see eight large projections and hear 8 sound sources. I'll test it out by setting up in a large room soon. I'm calling the > tune Tine Space And Reality. You could easily rebuild your virtual space in VRML and position your sound via proximity sensors, after your exhibit, so that other people online can expirience your arrangement. This is a very popular thing to do with Virtual Reality, and so much fun. You can't do this with a CD or the radio, but you can show how it works online. I recently built a landscape(online) that changes the chords and the notes as you walk through it. The music is built into the geometry of the scene. I built another (it's not online)one with stairs, as you climb the stairs the music plays, as you walk around the space there is more music. It is all non-linear, where it starts and where it ends is all up to you because the music is arranged in virtual reality and not on a sheet of music score. > If anyone is interested I'm using a Teretec > EWS88MT soundcard to get the 8 separate outputs and I'm composing in > Propellerheads Reason software. Having great fun with it. I'd love to hear more about it! Andrea http://www.andrearogers.com
