Someone (PhillyGuy) made a reference to alt.music.eighties in a message
I read here a few minutes a go. I didn't know if it was tongue-in-cheek
or if there's actually a group by that name, so I decided to look it up
on my ISP's newsserver.
Sure enough, there is such a group. However, there are only five
messages in it, and some of these may be either spam or other
inappropriate messages.
Therefore, I'd like to add to the invitation by PhillyGuy to those folks
who are posting messages about the 1980s here to go to
alt.music.eighties. However, I am doing it in what I consider to be a
spirit of genuine invitation. Although I started to fall away from the
popular music of the day late in that decade, I was still very much
interested as the 1980s began. I've wanted a place to discuss 1980s
music online, and an alt.* group is better than nothing. I was involved
in a movement to start rec.music.rock-pop-r+b.1980s a few years ago, but
the effort failed. I hope that such a group can eventually get underway.
I'll try to post some things in the alt.music.eighties group this week
to get things rolling.
