WMP Media Library - Search Computer for Music question?

I'm using WMP 7.1 If I modify my music files (shift them around, delete,
add) on the HD, can I simply rerun Search Computer For Music over the
existing database, or will that mess up the existing database by creating
duplicate entries, or trashing it? (I wanted to avoid deleting the
library db file and starting all over, but I can go that way, if
necessary).
Has anybody tried rerunning every so often to "update" the existing library
(including removing bad entries)?
