Anime sighting on MTV2

Just minutes ago, I was channel surfing past MTV2, and they were showing a
video for a song called "Girlfriend" (cover of an old 60's tune, I think),
using clips from some anime I didn't recognize offhand. (Looked sci-fi, and
the art style was kind of like MSG. The hero had blond hair, a red shirt,
and a cigar, while the heroine had long light blue hair, opaque sunglasses,
and lips like Mick Jagger.)
This is the first example I know of of a con-style AMV getting playtime on a
music video network. ^_^ -Lord Craxton
