Eric Kobet's video, much as I think it's not in the upper upper echelon of music videos, should be regarded about at the same level as Brad DeMaus's "The Saga Begins" because it brought a different type of music video (in this case, a sort of visual fanfiction) into the lime-light. The Bebop vs DBZ... well, it was basically Tainted Donuts - Trigun + DBZ... It had the exact same feel, with none of the originality. Of course, both these videos are designed for immediate fan response, and they both did well in initial showings. IIRC, Tainted Donuts won AX that year (even though Odorikuruu has since become a much more well regarded video) and Bebop vs. DBZ did very well at Sakura-Con last year. It lost out, though, because the knockoff of "The Saga Begins" took the top... with the amazingly difficult to come up with combination of Initial D and the sound track for a Fast and the Furious trailer. It almost makes me wish for the days of Ryouga and "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" videos. > Blade Damien Roc embittered music video fan
