I thought that overall the film was something suited for the Sailor Moon
audience, not really good at all. But the art sequences set to the jazz
music was really nice, like a really great music video. I grabbed the DVD
just for those sequences alone. It is a nice bonus that it includes a
mini-DVD, something I haven't seen elsewhere.
I can understand Derek's mad-on to a degree for this and for NINJA SCROLL,
which I thought was dreck, but he amazes me with the contempt of GRAVE OF
THE FIREFLIES. I realize it isn't something you send people who want to
see fuzzy animals and animal spirits to, but it's a great film that
everyone should see, regardless of whether they want to see anime or live
action or whatever.
