New DIGINOVA 2 series from TELESTAR
German satellite manufacturer TELESTAR GmbH has launched its new series of
DIGINOVA 2 satellite set-top boxes, following the success of the DIGINOVA 1
series.
TELESTAR DIGINOVA 2 / 2 D
'Made in Germany' digital DVB satellite set-top box for free-to-air
reception. Installation is easy with an On-Screen Installation Assistant,
once using the DIGINOVA 2 - you'll find excellent programme support by the
SiehFern Info Electronic Programme Guide.
Picture and sound quality is excellent, and is further supported by an
electrical digital audio output (Dolby Digital AC3). Reception capabilities
are maximised, with an impressive 4000 channel capacity and DiSEqC 1.2 motor
support.
TELESTAR DIGINOVA 2 CI
Pay-TV programming is supported by a Common Interface slot, which accepts
the appropriate CI Module (CAM) and smartcard to descramble encrypted
programming.

100,000 a month for Freeview
(Source: Advanced Television) More than 100,000 people a month are signing
up to Freeview, says the BBC, making it the fastest growing new consumer
technology. The BBC claimed 1.6m homes now have Freeview, split equally
between those with legacy ITV Digital boxes and those who have bought new
STBs since the service launched last October. Around 74% of Freeview viewers
are over 35, while 40 per cent are over 55. Most have no interest in pay-TV
and were attracted by the simplicity of the technical set-up and the low
cost according to the BBC's report.

TechniSat reveals PVR set-top box launch
German satellite and multimedia manufacturer TechniSat Digital GmbH has
revealed prototype models of its Personal Video Recorder set-top boxes. The
DigiCorder S1 for satellite and K1 for cable, are expected for production
and market release in August.
The DigiCorder will handle up to 40 GB of storage and is expected to be
reselling for around 299 EURO. Each model will feature a Common Interface
slot, DiSEqC motorization control and 4000 channel capacity. The PVR
recording functions will be integrated into the standard SiehFern Info
Electronic Programme Guide, which downloads 2 weeks of programming
information overnight.
