my friend has an original natty dread vinyl album from 74 and he ripped the songs onto cd for me. there is an amazing version of 'no woman no cry' on it. since it was from vinyl, i wanted to buy the remastered tuff gong release so i did. i was pissed to discover that it does not have the same version that was on the original vinyl release. now, i am not so sure that the album version was actually really on the record (my friend insists that it came off the record although i did not listen to the record myself). he showed me the record but to my disappointment, did not have any specific liner notes or details, just lyrics. the track does not sound like the rest of the album (lower sound levels, alternate lyrics). there is an acoustic guitar playing with what sounds like a electronic drum track backing (if i didnt know any better, sounds like rap drum loop, kinda like modern remix-type recordings). it sounds somewhat more recent than a recording from '74. one lyric that is different is "...I remember, when we used to sit, in the government yard in jersey...". if it is bob singing, his voice sounds deeper than the remastered tuff gong version (may be peter tosh). anyone have any info on this version? where can i find a cleaner version (w/o ripping from vinyl)? anyone else heard this recording? any info would be appreciated. thanks Big Willy
