Hip Hop is a cultural movement incorporating various types of (African

Rap is a type of vocalization. Rap songs are ones which feature that type of
vocalization in a dominant way (as opposed to certain types of R&B or
whatever which might share rhythmic and textural simularities).
Rap music, as a genre, is an expression of Hip Hop in a particular (if
broadly defined) form.
Now let's have the deaf old fart rockers chime in about how rap isn't music
at all, because that argument is so fresh and under-explored.
