Hi all, Those of you who have experience with Dr. Z. Seems like an awefully nice amp at an awefully fair price. I've been doing a lot of research lately and even though some of these amps seem like a lot of dough, it's pretty amazing the value once you start comparing to other hand wired pt-to-pt amps. The sound samples are nice, but probably don't do it justice! I'm going to go check out a Roccaforte locally, but it's a bit pricier than the Z's I've been studying. I'm sure it will be the bees knees, but I don't know that I'll be able to swing it! There are a LOT of Z's that I won't be able to audition, so putting this out for those of you in the know. I know Dr. Z tends to like to do his own "thing" with his amps, but from the sound samples I've heard, they all seem to sound very classic, and not so modern, so this might not be a slam dunk answer for this question. For music that was recorded using the old Marshall Plexi's, which I'm sure a LOT of classic rock was, what's the best choice? I got (well, just bought it, it's being shipped) a little Trace Elliot Velocette which is supposed to give a little flavor of Vox, so I'm thinking of making the Dr. Z cover more of the Marshall chore. I tend to want to consider the KT45 since it's EL34 based. Then there's the Route66 which has KT-66's in it. Then there are the various EL84 based amps. I just don't know. I have a feeling "classic rock" is written all over just about any Dr. Z amp. Your thoughts appreciated.
