Kmail pop filter
Date: 11 Jul 2003 13:40:49 -0700
Newsgroups: comp.windows.x.kde
Size: 1,331 bytes
I've tried everything I can think of to get POP filtering to work in
Kmail but it still has no effect. What I want to do is to delete all
messages older than a certain number of days, or ideally some
combination of age and size (e.g., keep old, small messages longer but
purge big ones faster).
Under Settings | Configure Kmail | Network | Receiving | Modify, I've
set "Filter messages if they are greater than 1 byte", which I assume
should cause all messages to be filtered.
Then, under Settings | Configure POP Filters I've set Filter Criteria
to "Match any of the following" with <age in days> is greater than 3,
and Filter Action to delete mail from server. Yet the filter never
has any effect. I've tried stopping/starting Kmail, various
combinations of filter settings, waving a dead chicken (or at least a
Chik-Fil-A sandwich), you name it, and the POP filter never does
anything to messages on the server.
Filtering works fine when I use Eudora on a Windoze box, so I don't
think the problem is at the server end. I run my own mail server,
using qpopper on a RedHat Linux 9 system, so I can watch the size of
the mail spool to see whether the thing is working. (If it matters
I'm using APOP authentication.)
Just to emphasize, this is POP filtering, not Kmail's client-side
filtering which works fine.
Any ideas?
