Since the original poster did it through AOL, it seemed to me that he had AOL for an ISP. Therefore he has no POP server to access for email. I'm not even sure if he can use Agent to access AOL's news servers, since I don't remember if they have regular nntp server access or only allow access through their software, like they do with email. No reason to assume he has any ISP besides AOL, but, as you said, IF he does have another ISP for connecting, then he would probably have access to their nntp and POP servers, though he would have to use his email address at that ISP to use POP email.
