Linda, Scan for SpyWare with freeware at www.lavasoftusa.com and it will find other pests as well. Do a complete virus scan with current virus definitions. Also, become familiar with what's running in the background. Look in your StartUp folder and also Start/Run/msconfig StartUp. Learn about what you can disable or remove here: http://www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist.htm Some pop ups may be associated with software you have that you like. On occasion, freeware is ad-supported, and some include pop-ups. If you have a particular freeware that includes pop-ups, you may have to uninstall the software to get rid of the pop-ups. Software that kills pop-ups may cause some other software or web sites to not function or view correctly, but there are several of those from which to choose. Is there a way to stop pop up ads from running in the background even when you are not on the internet?
