pop-ups about pop-ups

Why do I keep getting pop-ups, through MSN Messenger, telling me my computer is open and a security risk, and I could stop the pop-ups by contacting KillMessenger.com or BlockMessenger.com, etc.? These are the only pop-ups I get. I can make them stop by going through the Control Panel, Admin Tools; but I have to do that every time I boot up. Is my computer really "open" and a security risk? Could a "hacker" get in and look at my files and internet activity? Internet security came with my emachine computer. And I get automatic downloads from Microsoft. I'm using Windows XP Professional; and AOL (because I got three months free with the emachine purchase). One more thing: Why is it so ******* hard to find an email address to ask a Microsoft tech this question? These pop-ups are coming through MSN Messenger; Windows came installed on my computer, but I purchased Works Suite separately; Microsoft should help me! It's a simple question. Why the run-around? Can someone help me? Thank you.
