I sure got a lot of good suggestions for my British Invasion Cheesy Pop-Folk compilation that I had mistakenly labelled British Folk Rock. Being inspired by the influence of the Animals on Bob Dylan's particular brand of folk-rock, I figured a compilation was a reasonable pursuit, especially after hearing the Pretty Things do Donovan's London Town. Trouble is, it gets to the very contradictions of what is folk music. Does the children's ditty, "Row Row Row," qualify any more than Mama's & Papa's covers, or the dreadful Chad & Jeremy version of "Willow Weep for Me?" By the end of this compilation, I was well into different genres that weren't exactly fitting. Here's my second draft: 1. The Pretty Things London Town 2. Lulu Morning Dew 3. The Small Faces Red Balloon 4. The Fifth Avenue The Bells Of Rhymney 5. The Springfields Silver Threads And Golden Needles 6. The Settlers Early Morning Rain 7. The Searchers What Have They Done To The Rain 8. The Kytes Blessed 9. Michelle Fisher When You Walk In The Room 10. The Animals Baby Let Me Take You Home 11. Them Go On Home Baby 12. Mark Leeman Portland Town 13. Manfred Mann Please Mrs. Henry 14. Nico Im Not Saying 15. The Factotums Absolutely Sweet Marie 16. The Kinks Ive Been Driving On Bald Mountain 17. The Rolling Stones Walking Thorugh The Sleeply City 18. The Beatles My Bonnie 19. Tony Rivers Row Row Row 20. The Honeycombs Oo-Ee Train 21. The Overlanders Go Where You Wanna Go 22.
