an academic friend of mine, who doesn't really care for bruce, once told me the
exception was "greetings from asbury park", because it was "punk".
interesting. I think it's a valid pov, even if the album certainly doesn't fit
in with the conventional "punk rock" company.
(marsh made the same argument once upon a time, but I don't know, it just
seemed more legit coming from my friend. <g>
but of course it has been said that dave marsh coined the term "punk rock". )
also interesting to ponder the influence jon "thank god I'm country boy" landau
and co. had on bruce, in this respect.
