Cliff Annable says he is considering filing a civil suit? Come on, Annable?! Stand up and be a man! You can't take a little "poke and jab" from a little woman? Sheesh! Fatpat ------------------------------ White Rock council meeting turns violent Friday, June 27, 2003 White Rock councillor Margaret Woods is accused of striking a colleague during an altercation Monday. (Global BC) Coun. Cliff Annable, the victim of the alleged attack, says he is considering filing a civil suit. (Global BC) White Rock Mayor Judy Forster has called an emergency council meeting to address the issue Friday. (Global BC) A White Rock councillor is facing censure and possible criminal charges after she allegedly physically attacked a colleague at Monday's council meeting. According to witnesses, Coun. Margaret Woods was berating city staff during a discussion about paving contracts. Several councillors tried to step in to defuse the argument when she is alleged to have punched and poked a pen at fellow councillor Cliff Annable. Here is an account of the altercation as reported by Annable to the Peace Arch News: "She turned to me screaming 'Shut your mouth' really loud, 'Shut your damn mouth,'" said Annable. "I said Margaret, I don't have to shut my mouth. "That's when she jabbed me in the left cheek with her pen. I said 'Bitch,' and then she punched me on the top of the head and tried to gouge my eye out." An emergency council meeting has been scheduled for Friday evening, where it is expected several councillors will ask for Woods's resignation. "We need to take these things seriously," said White Rock Mayor Judy Forster, who defends Woods as a good person who had an unfortunate "flare-up." "The individual involved is a very nice lady," said Forster. "She's got a lot to offer the council and... community. But a flare-up like this will not be condoned." Woods is being investigated by the RCMP, and criminal charges may still be laid over the incident. Annable says he is considering filing a civil suit. h**p://www.canada.com/vancouver/story.asp?id=0AEE1CD1-7D1E-465D-8DA2-A6849A234CBA
