Hey fellow Rock Music Fans,
I am doing some background research for a book I am writing about my
personal insights and experiences of being a rock music fan. Being a
fan of rock music has impacted my life in so many incredible ways, and
I would like to get your opinion on how being a fan has made a
difference in your life.
I will share with you some of the findings on the newsgroups and
bulletin boards that I have posted to once I've analyzed the data. I
worked as a radio research analyst for a radio rep firm in New York
City as well as at a radio station in Denver for a total of nearly
five years, and I have always wanted to do my own research with rock
fans. Some of the questions are very "fan" oriented, such as "how did
you find out about the band?" while others get a bit more personal. If
you do not feel comfortable or do not feel like responding to certain
questions, that is fine. Fill out what you want and submit it. I can
still use your feedback. Based upon people who tested the website
survey for me, it took an average of 5-10 minutes to complete.
I will donate 10 cents for every valid response I receive to a music
charity, such as Save the Music. I am posting this request on dozens
of different rock band newsgroups, and my goal is to get at least a
total of 1000 responses (that would be at minimum of a $100 donation).
If you know of anyone else who is a big fan of a particular rock
band, please spread the word and forward them the website address at
the bottom of the page.
There are also some questions with text boxes where you can write as
much or as little as you want. I may cite your comments or portions of
them in the book, but they will not be associated with anyone's name
(I do not ask for your name on the survey, only your e-mail address
(totally optional) if you want to be contacted for a possible
follow-up survey). You will be anonymous, so go ahead and pour your
heart out if you want to.
I am in no way associated with any rock band or their management.
This is totally a private undertaking, and I will be solely
responsible for the analysis of the responses.
