OT: Finnish rock music

Okay Barney, here are the summaries for the lyrics of two
CMX songs; "Ruoste" and "Ei yksikään".
"Ruoste" - "Rust"
A. W. Yrjänä, singer of CMX has answered to question "What's
'Ruoste' about?" on the band's website: "It's about the
relationships between individual and society, man and woman,
child and parent, human and the universe."
I've always seen the song to be mostly about living in a
lie, denying yourself to fit in and realizing how...
"all lies that stand in life's way /
all good that prevents you from seeing /
it's rust"
...and IMO Yrjänä's relationship explanation kind of
supports that.
"Ei yksikään" - "No one"
This one is a bit more difficult and there's no official
help available ("Ruoste" is probably the band's greatest hit
ever and I think it was voted to be second best Finnish rock
song ever on one Finnish radio station so it's lyrics have
been discussed more than most other songs).
I _think_ that "Ei yksikään" is about the loss of love. How
the promise of one true love is broken in death of love...
"once I knew your face /
once I played your strings /
once I maybe spoke /
the words about eternity"
...or lover...
"your smiles crumbled /
your fragile hand failed /
days went out of order /
nights clawing at the window."
The chorus(es) also have lots of religious symbolism which I
think is used to show religion as another betrayed promise
of love.
Another lesson of Finnish rock music has ended. Class
dismissed ;)
