Kurdish music on newly established US radio 08/05/2003 KurdishMedia.com - By Bryar Mariwani London (KurdishMedia.com) 08 May 2003: Radio Sawa, the service of U.S. International Broadcasting, operated and funded by the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), an agency of the U.S. Government, has started broadcasting Kurdish music. The Radio broadcasts Arabic and Kurdish music around the clock with news bulletins every half an hour. The aim of the broadcasts is stated to be serving the "long-range interests of the United States by communicating directly in Arabic with the peoples of the Middle East by radio."
