Mandolin

Hi folks,
A question came up on a mandolin player's email list today about
mandolin in Hawaiian music. The guy who asked the question had found a
John kameaaloha Almeida recording with him holding a mando on the cover.
I've seen mando played around here (S.F.) in the Kapalakiko Hawaiian
Band. Who else has played mando in Hawaii? Are there any good
recordings available or is it really uncommon? I have to admit that I
haven't come across it very much myself even though I play mandolin and
love Hawaiian music.
