Guess this makes FlightSoft's "Fly to Hawaii" disc a collector's item? Hawaiian Airlines Retires Last DC-10 Carrier Switch To New Fleet Complete POSTED: 11:14 a.m. HST February 28, 2003 HONOLULU -- Hawaiian Airlines retired its final DC-10 Thursday, completing its conversion to a new fleet of trans-Pacific aircraft. The passengers and flight crew of "Flight One" were greeted with fresh flower leis and traditional Hawaiian music when the jet arrived on a flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu International Airport. Hawaiian has replaced its DC-10 fleet with a dozen Boeing 767-300-ER aircraft. Four more of the wide-body jets are scheduled for delivery by May. The airline replaced its inter-island fleet of 15 DC-950 aircraft with 13 Boeing 717-200 jets in 2001. Hawaiian Airlines Chairman John W. Adams says the modernization of both its fleets cost more than $1 billion and was by far the largest capital expense in the airline's history.
