Wow I just found you guys and was thrilled!!!! I was in the Navy and had the best of luck to be stationed in Hawaii for 10 years of my 20 year career!!!! I retired in October 2001 and moved back to the mainland (Texas). The events of Sept 11th put a whole different kind of effect on my retirement but we brought back many fond memories of Oahu, namely 2 kids and a niece born at Tripler and a dog and two cats. My love for Hawaiian music came late and was when IZ passed away and I realized what I had been missing. I first listened to his Hawaii '78 back in my first week in the islands and thought he had a great voice but stuck with K-POI or I 94for my music. But I do have a lot of fond memories of Greg Hammer and Rory Wild; In fact my van has I94Hawaii's Real Hit Music stickers on it!!! Is it a Christian station now? I see KORL is Radio Disney ? Anyway I've tried to keep up when and how I could with the music. We have DISH network and they have a Hawaiian Channel on their digital music service which is great, tho its nothing like hearing it back there on the radio. Which brings me to my help part!!! Back when we were getting ready to leave in August/Sept 2001 one of the radio stations KORL/ KCCN or KDNN (98.5) and it was called "Home in the Islands" or something like that (and it wasn't the Bros. Kaz version), this one had a female (maybe Melveen or someone similar) in the lead vocal. Can anyone help me???? If you can much mahalo's and I'm a firm supporter of Hawaaian Artists and don't do the NAPSTER so any type of ordering info would be great!!!! Mahalo Plus if you know of any Hawaiian Artists performing in the Dallas Texas area please give me a shout!!!!
