Okay, and methinks Chithra too deserves a mention. I have come to
simply adore her voice. She has sung such complex songs so very
effortlessly that it takes my breath away. She defeats even VJs
complex songs in south indian films. I am talking about Chitra's 1.5
minute piece "shree saraswathy namostute...." in Sargham (music by
Ravi (of "dilli ka thug" fame)) and "madhuram gayathi mam hridayam" by
Sarat (I dont know the film's name). I have enjoyed her rendition of
the famous "krishnaa nee begane baaro" and "alaiypayuthe kannaa en
manam....". Soulful and powerful are my words to describe her singing.
Incidentally, there is also a very nice Hindi song by Chitra -
"chaliye kunjanamo...." in the Malayalam film "Swathi thirumal". This
outdoes any Hindi song by VJ. Again strictly IMHOO.
