I've never been entirely clear on the difference between Jungle and
Drum -n- Bass.
My hunch is that it wouldn't work well with salsa. Reggae (broadly
defined) has more of an influence in the salsa and merengue than any
of the new ("new" meaning, say, came to prominence since the mid-80's)
electronic dance music does. (Well, actually, there's a lot of stuff
which staddles merengue and house, so that's an exception.)
One reason I got interested in Latin music is that I was not taken
with house, techno, etc. Of all these newish forms, drum -n- bass is
the one that I find the most appealing, though I think I like it very
impure and mixed with other things. I have to admit though that I
occasionally hear some house that I like as well, but most of it gets
on my nerves. Something like Basement Jaxx's (sp?) "Romeo" does it
for me, but maybe because there are a lot of other rhythms layered in.
