NEW CUBAN MUSIC MAGAZINE
I would like to introduce the members to Solar de la Timba, a new
online magazine focused on Salsa Cubana. Our goal is to build the
market for Cuban music by exposing the works of Cuban and Latin
American music writers to a much broader audience. This quarter's
issue includes articles about:
• The top 10 modern Cuban bands
• La Tropical, which is the Mecca for Cuban music in Havana, written
by Adrianna Orejuela, who is one of the foremost Cuban musicologists
and an expert on Timba
• A small tribute to Mongo Santamaria written by Cesar Pagano, who is
simply one of the most knowledgeable individuals about Salsa music
that we have ever met. His book on Ismael Rivera is a true gem.
• An interview with Osvaldo Chacon, a rising Timba star who offers an
interesting perspective on the past, present, and future of Timba
music
