talking about last names,it is usually Bengali but can also be a last
name among Tamil,Telugu and Kannada Brahmins and perhaps other castes
I am not sure.In this case the actors first name is Chakravarthy,so
there is no caste/regional restriction for that.I think the name means
conquerer or ruler similar to Rajathiraja(also a great song by IR
BTW!;-)).
