There was a time> when I felt he> was melodramatic and bore. - Ditto here, I grew up watching his trash as spewed out by DD1,, 'Ennnama, more louder and slower, EN N A AA MMMAAAA'! then saw some of his older movies. Kamal was on air recently and spoke how Sivaji despitebeing short not a good looker, how he made people he really had some personality and would make people look at him, his case in point was a 'yaridi nee mogini' song, and another tamil rap numebr, the mannerisms, his steps, his eyebrow movements. That 'ANdha Naal' was something different all together. Subtly played, no over acting, great restrained performance where even that irritaing pandari bai, was ok. Great story of a national traitor, selling secret info for Money to the Japanese, using a ham radio in his house. tHe movie starts off with the arrival of the police to look at the dead body of Sivaji. and the whole movie is about that 'tehakikat', unraveliing of the mysteries in the family and finally the exposure of who is the murderer. no songs, nothin, short movie too, so it was taut and gripping right through. . This was during 1970s when he> was fat, aging> and acted horribly in movies like Thangapadakam (remade in hindi as> Shakti- he did the role of Dilip Kumar. DK was much better). > Then I started seeing his old movies and realized what a great actor > he was. > > rk- [ navarathri another great movie of SG ] -- Direct access to this group with http://web2news.com http://web2news.com/?rec.arts.movies.local.indian
