Digital music library By Zarina Patel This summer vacation one of our class mates is planning to create her own digital music library. Since we wanted to know more about what a music library was we asked our teacher about it. She said that it was something like our computer singing our favourite tracks to us. For this we need to install windows media player XP (windows XP OS) to our computer system. What is windows media player? Microsoft Windows media player is a wonderful player which gives music lovers access to a variety of musical features such as: 1. Playing the CD 2. Listening to Internet radio. 3. Creating music library and CDs. Today we will learn to create a digital library. What is digital music library? We all love to hear music but it is usually difficult to find all of our favourite songs in one cassette or CD. Besides this, buying CDs and keeping them safely is a difficult task as well. The best way to rid yourself of all these problems is to create a music library. You can copy your favourite music files from different CDs to make a library. Then all you have to do is to just click a track and listen to your favourite music without even inserting a CD. When you become an expert you can copy allthese songs to your own personal CD through the process of CD burning. How to make digital library? Follow the steps given below to make the library. Collection of tracks: * Select your favourite tracks. Suppose you want to make a music library with the following tracks. Track No 1: Every breath you take by Police. Track No 2: Lady in red by Chris de berg. Track No 3: Ankhon ke sagar by fuzon. Track No 4: Durr by String. You may select the songs or music from one CD or from different CDs. * Insert CD in CD-ROM drive. Create personal music folder: * Open windows media player program file. * Click on "Tool" menu bar option. * Select "copy music" tab. * Now select "change" button. * Click on "my music" to add a new folder in it. * Give your new folder new name "my favourite tracks". My documents---My music---My favourite tracks * Click OK. * Notice that "copy music to this location" have details of the location of"my favourite tracks" folder. Click on apply and OK. C:\ My documents\My music\My favourite tracks You can also copy all tracks directly to "my music" folder without creating a personal folder, the choice is yours. Recording selected tracks: * On the left side of the screen there is a list of features, choose the "Copy from CD" feature. * List of all tracks of the CD (already inserted in CD-ROM drive) comes into view at the screen. * Details of each track are given next to each track, such as the title of the song, length of each track, artist of each song, etc. * There is a checkbox with every track. * Clear the checkbox, if you don't want to copy that song. * At the right side of the screen there is a red spot with the caption "Copy Music". * Click it to start copying all the selected songs to "my favourite tracks" folder. * As soon as the copying procedure begins, "Copy status" will show the progress of the songs being copied from the CD to your music library. * You can stop copying any time. View the quality of tracks: * To assess the quality of the sound click on tools and select option. * Click the copy music tab. * Move the slider given below the caption "Copy music at this quality". Remember that moving the slider away from "smallest", track will take more space on your computer's hard disk. It is a better idea to keep the quality to medium or small.
