Shanachie Entertainment is proud to announce its latest signing, Third World,
one of the most enduring and popular reggae bands in the world.
Third World, led by vocalist Bunny Rugs, one of the finest singers to emerge
from Jamaica, will mark their 30th anniversary as a band with the release of
"Ain't Givin' Up", their first new studio album in four years and only their
third studio album in a decade (Hit the streets on May 13, 2003). Shanachie
General Manager Randall Grass states, "We're thrilled to sign Third World. The
group is the longest-running self-contained reggae ensemble in the world and
they have scored more pop hits than any other reggae group."
"Ain't Givin' Up" is an irresistible set of pop-reggae that mixes loves songs
with inspirational and message material. Highlights include a moving ballad
version of Bob Marley's "Natural Mystic" and the environmental anthem
"It's Not Too Late." The group is also joined on the album by special guest
vocalists Julian Lennon , Lady Saw, female dancehall sensation,and
Glen Washington
"Ain't Givin' Up" showcases Third World as the seasoned veterans they are.
Anchored by core members Bunny Rugs, Richard Daley and Stephen "Cat" Coore, the
album shines light on the marvelous vocals of Bunny Rugs and the group's always
exemplary harmony.
Third World's recording & performance track record is solid as a rock. They
have consistently broken new ground, integrating elements of funk, disco, rock,
hip hop, classical and African music. Third World has scored more pop hits
than any other Jamaican group.
